After seeing some of the rein"beer" projects on Pinterest, my daughter and I came up with our own Root "Deer" version for Grandpa last Christmas. We used Create a Critter for the little reindeer and Winter Woodland for the font.

Ruffled a Tree Skirt
I love all the pretty ones on Pinterest. So I bought a plain red felt tree skirt from Target, drew concentric (nice word :), I know) circles on it 3" apart, and cut strips of fabric 4" wide. I used the awesome gathering foot for the ruffles for the first time. I was ruffling so fast that I wanted to do a happy dance! I also left all edges raw except for the satin, which I serged.
Oh yeah, it could also be a "skirt"....according to Joy. :)

A Pinterest-inspired Thanksgiving
First, the embroidered turkey shirts for my sweet girls and an apron for me:
Next, the turkey footprint craft:
Last, the tootsie pop turkey tree:
(Used the cricut to cut the leaves and circles and the cuttlebug to emboss.) These will be our party favors.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Minion Hat :)
So....while surfing Pinterest last night (always a dangerous thing when my Joy is beside me), we spotted this adorable hat and my Joy just had to have it! She couldn't wait to be a little minion. (I've always considered her my minion anyhow.)
She wanted just one eye.

I made this fun set with free patterns found on Ravelry.
First I made the gloves from this pattern: (Joy wanted them to be extra long.)

And this cute hat pattern is here:

I used this awesome yarn:
Found here: Syn yarn in "Syren" Or maybe at your local yarn store :)
It's so pretty in person. It's metallic silver yet soft to the touch.

Have I lost it? :)
So, when my husband saw what I was making, he told me I've officially "lost it"! :)
But I love it. I love anything that makes cleaning a little easier and a little more fun.
It's a swiffer sock that I crocheted! It uses acrylic yarn that will hopefully build up lots of static so it will pick up lots of dust. Isn't it pretty? Here's the link to the free pattern should you want to make one, too.

Maiden Costume
On the last day of Vacation Bible School (which had a Medieval theme), the kids were to come in costume. Of course, my daughter didn't want to wear one of the dozens of princess dresses she owns. She wanted to be a "maiden", since she thought all the other girls would probably dress as a princess.
I was so proud of myself not buying a thing to make this (I love using up my fabric stash!) We looked online so I could get an idea of what she had in mind. Then she drew the corset she wanted and I modified a vest pattern with a scoop neck and taking a bit off the middle fronts so it wouldn't meet in the middle, then added grommets and ribbon. She wore a red shirt & I made a long black skirt from some double knit fabric I had. We also did a crown braid and added spray glitter and ribbon roses to her hair.
I think she looks a little Snow White-ish and I certainly think she is the fairest of all. :)

Once Upon A Princess Mermaid
Got to hang out with my sweet Fiona a lot the week of VBS as she was too young to go. I wanted to make something with her so I let her pick some colors...she wanted blue, green, and brown and we made this great mermaid from Once Upon A Princess. I was thinking she could stamp the face, but she insisted on drawing it-so cute!!

Cupcake Box
A fun little box for a gift card or other small gift. The box is from the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge. Love that it tells you exactly what size at which to cut. The chocolate top lifts completely and just fits right back in when you want to put the lid back on. Yum!
