Menu Board

So excited to have this pretty and functional board in my kitchen. I saw this in a great post on A Girl and a Glue Gun. She gives great instructions and sells them, too.








The main thing I had to change was that I had to use Velcro since my acrylic calendar was simply too thick for the magnets to stick through that. I could have saved a lot of money if I'd figured that out in the beginning and not been so stubborn about it. You know, "I'm going to MAKE this work!" Well, even someone as hard-headed as me will give up after approximately 8 coats of that expensive magnetic paint! :)








But I love the final product.

Another thing I have to share.  One of my friends said, "You should title your post, 'How to drive your kids crazy'."  Here's why: for the first couple of weeks when I had this up, I had not been to the store for a true menu-planning-grocery-shopping session.  So I had just randomly thrown all the entrees up on the board for aesthetics.  Everyday, my 9 yo would say, "Oh, good, we're having fill-in-the-blank for dinner tonight," and I would say, "Sorry, not tonight," he'd say, "But, mom, the board says...."  I wasn't intentionally trying to drive him nuts, you know, but it was funny to me, I admit. :)

I used the cricut Storybook cartridge to cut out the little scalloped squares at 1 1/4".  I also cut out the pretty flower/medallion off this cart.  Also used From My Kitchen for "dinner" and the Lyrical Letters, Loopy for the other words.

I have a little glass dish next to it to store extras and I keep a list of new recipe names I want to add when I make more. Have a blessed day!  I'd love to see your boards if you make one.

Japanese Flower Girl Card & Gift Box

I embellished her flower and the sentiment tag with pearls. Her robe is embellished with birds and swirls, and the sentiment is embossed. I put the girl on Action Wobbles.




One tip I thought of today: I cut the tiniest notch in the card where I wanted to spread it out.

There are pretty Japanese lanterns not the hexagon box from Life's A Party.




Made this darling card and box set for the Let's Face it Friday - Designer's Choice!  and the challenge at My Creative Time to use green and yellow and an "older" cart (I used A Child's Year for the terrific card base that just lends itself perfectly to wrapping with Baker's Twine.) I got this sweet little girl svg file fromMy Scrap Chick. So happy with how she turned out. I love her sweet little face so much.

Would be great to put a little gift of tea in or a gift card to a Japanese Steak House! Yum!

Drawer Pull / Knob Redo with Cricut Vinyl

Aren't they sweet? I wanted to get some newer, funner (yes, I just used the word "funner") knobs for my crafty room and saw someone (it was awhile ago and, my apologies, but I couldn't find the exact post I had seen) use vinyl to so easily dress up these little babies. I used the flower from Storybook and did it in chocolate brown so it would match this:



over my window and this:

Hello Kitty Gatefold Card

 
This was lots of fun. I used a Velcro dot to hold it shut:





Since I give cards without envelopes sometimes when giving them in person. I also highlighted the yellow areas with stickles. The shape the HK image is on is from Storybook. The stamp says "You're the cat's meow!" let me know if you have any questions. Have a glorious day!

Framed Name Art---Lots of Pics!

Here is the first of FIVE wall hangings I made for my little ones and other small children in my family.  Three are Princesses, but two are for boys.  What a great feeling to finally get them finished and framed and given away to the appropriate little loves in my life.  The original inspiration came from a post off of the old Cricut messageboards HERE.  I fell in love with this and had to go crazy with the idea.  This first one of Sleeping Beauty is the most similar to the post I saw on the mb.  On this one, I used glitter cardstock for the name in the Storybook font, Happily Ever After for most images, and Home Decor for the flourish under the name, and Serenade for the tree.  I also stamped the corners with CTMH acrylix stamps to add needed color.

Next, is my project from Life's A Beach!  Love that one.  All cuts on this piece of art are from LAB.  I stamped the bubbles and seaweed.  I also accented with gel pens and rhinestones in the treasure chest. 

My daughter said, "He has a big booty!"  I had to agree.  LOL

The little seahorse is tucked in among the coral.

I embossed the name and used the cricut markers to subtly ink brown around each letter.  (You can see it enlarged by clicking on the pic if you like.)

Next are my two princess nieces.  (They even have princess names!)

I love the colors.  Red is so crisp!  The birds and the dwarve's little chair are too sweet!

Bashful was the girliest dwarf with the pretty flowers.

Again, I stamped in the corners for lots of color.

What did I tell you?  Do you get more princess-y than Juliet and Fiona as far as names go?

Are you still with me?  Thanks, this is the longest post I've ever done by far!  Here is the one I made for my son...he loves basketball just like his daddy and needed something not too juvenile...

All images are from Basketball Solutions, except the bball corners which are from Sports Mania.  The font is from Opposites Attract.

I embossed the letters and stamped silver bballs in the background.  I tried to use Orlando Magic colors for the most part as we are fans.

60th Anniversary Card and Gift

I will be away for the weekend, but wanted to show you how I used the leftover vinyl from the Etched Picture Frame on the gift wrap.  I just taped on the card and put the vinyl on above and below.  (The scrolls are from Storybook and they aren't on the frame, but the lettering and heart from Plantin Schoolbook is.)  The best gift-wrapping tip I ever heard is just to get a big roll of this brown kraft paper from the Office Supply Store and use it for everything.  It is just good all-purpose paper that is a nice weight and can then be decorated for any occasion and best of all, you only have to store one roll of wrapping paper!

I figured I would post the card here as well.  The cuts on the card are all from A Child's Year (a favorite, for sure).  I used design studio to hide the violin cutout on the image I used for a liner and the vellum... The paper is Amy Butler and it just reminds me of my grandma.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps (the button is on my sidebar).  Thanks for letting me share.  Have a blessed weekend!

Christmas in July Cuttlebug & Ribbon/Buttons Challenges

This was really fun though I did put a lot of time with it. It completes my December Daily album and that feels great! I used Storybook and Winter Woodland for the cuts and cuttlebugged the snowman and white tag and blue photo mat. I don't know how well the white tag embossing will show up in the pics, but I used glossy photo paper and it turned out really shiny and pretty in real life.

Christmas in July Challenge

Here is a 7 x 7 double layout I made using Storybook cuts mostly for a challenge at http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/search/label/Challenge%20Me%20Monday. I used gel pens for the doodling and a cute punch from Creative Memories for the heart. I think when it gets a bit closer to December I will attempt a video to share my Daily December albums (originally inspired from an Ali Edwards blog post a couple years ago) where I do a small layout and/or journaling for each day of the month. I am just now doing Christmas Eve and I will try to do Christmas day soon, too. I do most of the scrapbooking contemporaneously, but for some reason (I think I want them to be awesome) procrastinated the last two layouts. Enjoy!

Scrapbook Pages 2 for Logan

These are a few more of the pages I did for Logan's book. I loved the pic of him raising his hands in victory. The font is my much loved Pooh font. The layout of the Sante Fe River comes from A Child's Year, both the font and images, except the sun, which is from Accent Essentials and it's stickled (I had to sneak a little glitter in!). The corner flourishes out of the dark purple are from Story book. The "Coffey Kids" are out of another great Font, Lyrical Letters.
